Since 2019, artist and arts therapist Caris Pepper has been drawing vulvas – not as provocation, but as portraiture. The most intimate kind. Each sitting is a conversation, a channelling, a co-creation. Each woman said yes to being seen in the most sacred and private part of herself.
There are thirty-three of them now. And together they form the Femessence oracle deck – a 33-card journey from arrival to self-trust, held in your hands as a luxury object you will keep for life.
Each card carries a portrait and a single word. The word is an invitation, a direction, a reflection. Draw a card when you need to hear something true. The deck will meet you exactly where you are.

Each one is a real woman — her body drawn with reverence, her essence distilled into a single word that will sit on the card she carries into the world.

The journey
The thirty-three cards move through five arcs. The deck has a direction — from arrival, through knowing herself, through how she moves with others, into creating, and finally to threshold. The destination is self-trust.
You don’t need to use the deck in order. But the order is there if you want it.
Cards 1–7
Arriving
She is received. Before she is guided, she is welcomed. It is safe to be here.
Cards 8–14
Knowing Herself
She looks at what she has turned away from. Shadow. Instinct. Worth. The parts she learned to hide.
Cards 15–21
In Relation
How she moves with others while staying herself. Joy. Grace. Witness. Belong.
Cards 22–26
Creating
She makes something from what she now knows. The creative fire at her centre, lit.
Cards 27–33
Threshold
She crosses into the life she has been building toward. The final card is Love.

About Caris
Caris Pepper is a visual artist and registered arts therapist based in Albany, Western Australia. She holds a Masters in Creative Arts Therapy (2019) and is PACFA-accredited. The Femessence series has been part of her practice since 2019 — 33 portraits made over six years with 33 real women.
She is also a Reiki Master, clairvoyant practitioner, and Rites of Passage facilitator. Her work has been exhibited across Australia and internationally. She was selected for the Bundanon Art Residency in 2025.
The Femessence oracle deck is the most personal thing she has made. She is taking her time to make it right.

Questions
When will the deck be available?
Pre-orders are planned to open mid-2027. The deck will ship in late 2027. Founding members on the waitlist will be first to know — and first to order.
How much will it cost?
The RRP is $88 AUD. Founding members who join the waitlist before pre-orders open will receive a special pre-launch price. You’ll be notified of your founding member price when pre-orders open.
What’s in the deck?
33 oracle cards (7 × 12cm) + 1 companion card. A guidebook the same size as the cards with a full spread per card — short message, extended reflection, and a quote or practice. Luxury rigid box with magnetic closure. Gold foil edges. Velvet matte finish.
Who are the women in the portraits?
They are real people who participated in the Femessence Women’s Celebration Series between 2019 and 2027. Each gave their consent and their body as art. Their identities remain private — on the card, each woman is known only by her card title.
Can I still be part of the series?
A small number of portrait spaces remain. If you’d like to explore having your vulva portrait made — and potentially becoming part of the deck — visit the portrait page or book a complimentary discovery call.

What if the project doesn’t launch?
The waitlist is free to join — there is no payment at this stage and no obligation. Pre-orders will only open when production is confirmed. You’ll be kept informed every step of the way.
